Donald B. Rice, K-134-35 is buried in the Netherlands American Military Cemetery in Margraten, Netherlands, Plot K, Row 4, Grave 17.
His grave has been adopted by the Familie H. Kleijnen. The Kleijnen family adopted the grave on September 24, 2005. Before that his grave had been adopted by P Janssen from Geleen. Does anyone know how I might be in contact with the Kleijnen Family. Thank you very much. Chuck Martin

This is a wonderful website as you can tell it is done with a lot of Love and Respect. I want to thank Pierre Ackermans for making aware of this site and for his hospitality when I visited Margraten this year. Both Bert Caris and Marcel Kleijkers have done a marvelous job making this website a true memorial to those who made the supreme sacrifice so that we may live free today. We, the loved ones of those buried in Margraten, are truly blessed to have such great friends watching over them.

My uncle (my mothers brother) Ezell M. Robertson was killed on April 18, 1945. He was a member of the 36th Armored Infantry Regiment, 3rd Armored Division. He is buried at the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margrate, Neatherlands, Plot J, Row 19 Grave 6.
In 2005 I researched and found he was buried here. I found your website today and am so greatful to know he is in such a wonderful place. My mother never knew where or if he was buried only that he died in April of 1945. She is much relieved to know that he is resting and is being take care of. Thank you to the wonderful people of Margraten and the Neatherlands. If he has been adopted by anyone and they would like to know more about him please let me know. Hij ligt begraven in vak H,Rij 2, Graf 7. Het is niet mijn primaire doel om de familie te vinden maar misschien is het voor de familie belangrijk om te weten dat voor het graf van hun John wordt gezorgd. Na een zoektocht van meer dan 8 maanden is de familie gevonden,de 82 jarige broer stuurde meteen een foto van zijn gesneuvelde broer. My son had adopted the grave of Emilio Cardiel in 2005. After a research and placing an announcement one evening an e-mail was recieved from C. Cardiel from Servierville (TN).
We mailed and after a while it meant that she was the granddaughter of Emilio. So we got into contact with her father Allan, also living in Servierville (TN). It was for us and for the US relatives a fine and emtional moment that on the 90th birthday of Emilio, in august 2006 we could lay a fine bunch of red flowers and a special card sent to us, on his grave. Note that Allan was born in the year that his father died. Note also that Allan lived in Maastricht in the seventies. Note that we have picture of Emilio and a fine contact with the Cardiel family. - indeed fallen but not forgotten -. Habets

The first grave is of SSGT Maurice D. Pershing. nr. 37274877. he belonged to the 367th Bomber Squadron; 306th. Bombergroup. Heavy. He entered the army from South Dacota. He died 22 februari 1944. I know almost for sure that he died at Bernberg. That day there was a mission to a german aircraft plant in very bad weather conditions. I hope for more information about his family, crew members. etc. The second grave is from Vito Marco. pvt nr. 32677127. He died 26 december 1944. He entered the service from New York. We have recieved a certificate of adoptoin of Torrance P White. He came from Polke County in North Carolina. He was with the 634 tank destroyer battalions and was killed in action i believe on march 30, 1945. His rank was tec 4, dogtag number 34211115, unit 634 TD BN. I have been doing some browsing on the internet, but there is still some infotmation that i would like to have, but cannot find. I would like to now exactly where he was killed. I know that they were fighting south of Paderborn on March 27. What is TEC 4. I now have a name, but i would like to have a face with a name. Mijn adoptiegraf , Fred Grainger was medic in B company 504th PIR 82e airborne division. Hij is overleden op 17 september door een kogel van een sluipschutter. Hij ging Jerry Murphy helpen die gewond op straat lag in Heumen , ook al had hij een helm met een groot rood kruis er op , schoot de sluipschutter toch. De kogel ging dwars door zijn hoofd heen , niks of niemand kon hem nog helpen. Ook voor Jerry Murphy was het te laat , hij overleed enkele minuten na Fred Grainger.
Mijn vraag is nu , wie is de adoptant van Jerry Murphy ? Ik zou graag in contact komen met de adoptant om informatie uit te wisselen. Fred en Jerry waren goede vrienden en dit kan mij helpen in mijn onderzoek. Alvast Bedankt , Thijs Van der List Buck Spiecker

I have served in the US Army (drafted) and last month I went to see an old army buddy in Endicott, Upstate New York, close to the city of Binghamton. There I happen to read in the local sunday paper an article about a dutchman who lives in Helmond and who had adopted a grave in the military cemetary Margraten in Holland. The fallen soldier came from that part of NY State which explains the article in the Binghamton newspaper. I decided to contact this dutchman and helped him with some research via the internet. .
I am currently in Holland to visit a sick brother and decided to visit an old lady friend in Maastricht and planned to meet with this dutchman at Margraten where I myself had not been to in many years. Through this message I hope to help him with his search for information about S/SGT John R. Thomas, Company C, 513th Parachute Infantry, 17th Airborne Division.
