Thank you Jorgen and Rini Mengels for forwarding this wonderful site to me. I am the daughter of Cpl. William H. Myers, Jr. who is one of the 8,301 buried at Margraten. Every visit I make to Margraten I am filled with such emotion. I am overcome by the continuous care, respect, and affection shown to not only my father's grave but by the Dutch to me. My father will always be a hero, who answered the call, and paid the ultimate sacrifice. If he had to die, I feel so fortunate he rests in Margraten because coming to Margraten, Maastricht and the Limburg area is like coming home. Dank u vel

I am so happy to visit your wonderful site which just gets better and better. I am sorry we did not meet again during the Memorial Day services this year. The rain kept us from many meetings with our Dutch families and friends. Thank you again for all that you do to maintain this honorable site dedicated to the memory of our fathers, brothers and sons. Hello everybody,
We are looking for the family or person who have or has adopted the grave of Captain Charles Lynn Barnett. He's buried at the American War Cemetery of Margraten. The reason why we are looking for them is because we have adopted Major William Carpenter who is memorialized on the Walls of Missing. Major William R. Carpenter was together with captain Charles L. Barnett in a kayak on the Rhine. Major Carpenter wanted to retrieve a body of a trooper of E-compangnie, who was killed the night before. Suddenly men of the 505th heard splashing on the water and screaming, they jumped in the water on the place where they heard the sound came from, but the splashing and screaming suddenly stopped. Some men have tried to rescue the both of them. The body of Major William R Carpenter was never found. Hope to hear from, also when anybody has some additional information, please contact us. Thank you for this beautiful webiste. Dennis and Gerda Place / Plaats: Brunssum

I am no one of any consequence, simply an American who is grateful for the care and love the Dutch people have shown for our fallen soldiers. Thank you for remembering what too many Americans have already forgotten. A famous American, Thomas Jefferson, one of our Founding Fathers wrote "..what we achieve to easily, we esteem too lightly". Thank you for honoring the sacrifice of our veterans. God bless The Netherlands!

I just read a profile of Staff Sgt. Donald E. Savage in my local newspaper. Sgt. Savage is a Maine native buried in this cemetery, having died in battle in November of 1943. It was so terrific to read about the dedication of the Dutch people to the maintenance of the cemetery and the "grave adoption" program that has been going on there since the end of WWII. I wanted to send my gratitude to everyone who has taken the time to pay tribute to our fallen servicemen in this way and let you know how much we appreciate it!

Died: 24-March-1945, Wesel, Germany With the kind help of Logan County District Library, we received the obituary of his father. His father (born, 27-july-1887, Vinty county, died 8-April-1974, Columbus, Ohio).was the reverend Arthur P. Kinney, a retired presbytarian minister, member of the Royal Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. Also his father had a brother Robert Kinney, Frankfort, Ohio. His mother was Clyttie Ritter, native of Bellefontaine had relatives in Logan County. Another source with valuable information could be: Obituary of James W. Kinney, Publication: Columbus Dispatch; Date: Monday, May 21, 1945 Page: 3 A. However, we were not able to order it. We like to get in contact with the family and to know more about his personal history. Is someone able to help. Thank you in advance. Nadine Long
