Dear all,
I became friends with an American WW2-veteran who served in the US 2nd Armored Divison that helped liberate the Netherlands in September 1944. As a favour to him I'd like to ask you for your help in purchasing/ordering (a replica of): the Netherlands Resistance Medal that was awarded to his Division on the 6th of October 1982. I really hope someone can help. Please let me know the costs or whether you know an address where to order/obtain this Medal. Thank you. fam. Smits

He served with the 5th Armored till he was killed on 21 April 1945 a few weeks before the ending of the war in Europe. With all the information on the internet and data from the 5th Armored I think he's been killed in the area Dahre-Salzwedel, near Berlin (Germany). That’s unfortunately all I know about him. My wife's father, who she never met, is buried in The American Cemetery in the Netherlands. His name was Harry Heiberger. He was a medic for the 319th Regiment, 80th Division of 3rd Army. He was killed approximately April 16th,1944 in Germany near the Czech border, the last day his unit was in action. He was awarded the silver star, two bronze stars and two purple hearts. He fought across europe and was part of the group of third army units that stopped the German advance into Belgium in 12/1944. We are grateful to know he was buried in the Netherlands among such great people. Harry Heiberger left a wife and young daughter (my wife ). He was from St. Mary's Pennsylvania, a catholic and a true american patriot. If his grave has been adopted we would enjoy communicating with those who care for his grave. It means much to us that folks take so much of theri personal time tocare for his grave. One day we hope to visit and pay our respects to Harry and his comrades, but also to the great people of Margraten
