Memorial Day 2006 at the Netherlands American Cemetery and Memorial Margraten, the Netherlands

Liberators...

Members of the Scouting Pioniers Oude Mijnstreek at the grave of Pfc Charles J. Hohn

In 2005 members of the Scouting Pioniers Oude Mijnstreek (Scouting Pioneers Old Mining District) from Landgraaf adopted the grave of Pfc Charles J. Hohn of the 120th Infantry Regiment of the 30th Infantry Division. This Division is know as the Old Hickory Division and was the main force which actually liberated the south of Limburg, the region in which Margraten is situated. Because the Pioneers' section is named after the Old Hickory Division they requested specifically for a grave of a 30th Infantry Division soldier.

To this group of young people tending to the grave of a 30th ID soldier is their way of paying respect to the sacrifices of WWII which eventually led to a society in which people live in freedom and peace.
